Wilkins, a 5-foot-9, 165-pound athlete from Shelby (N.C.) Crest, verbally committed to UNC in early September only to de-commit three months later. However despite his de-commitment, he scheduled an official visit to UNC the first weekend of December.
A couple of days after his de-commitment, Wilkins pledged to NC State and canceled his UNC official visit.
"The ACT, SAT, and Shrine Bowl were going on around the time I was supposed to have my [December UNC official visit]," Wilkins said. "So I just rescheduled it [for Jan. 15]. I didn't cancel it all together."
Wilkins has also scheduled an official visit to Louisville (Jan. 8) and says his NC State official trip will be scheduled for one of the weekends following his UNC visit.
After taking all of his official visits, Wilkins will make a final decision on which school will receive his National Letter-of-Intent on Signing Day.
"As of now, it's probably State," Wilkins said of where he will sign. "If the official visits go different, then I'll have my mind made up by February."
All three aforementioned schools are recruiting Wilkins as a wide receiver.
