McNair Has Two on Top

After attending North Carolina's Junior Day, Tremayne McNair claims two favorite schools.

"[The visit] has given the foundation to put [UNC] on top," McNair said. "Right now, it's them and Duke. I like them both the same."

McNair, a 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker from Jacksonville (N.C.) White Oak, has collected scholarship offers from Arkansas, Duke, East Carolina, Georgia Tech, UNC, NC State, Wake Forest, and West Virginia.

McNair doesn't plan on making a verbal commitment until November.

As a child, McNair attended football games at UNC. Saturday's Junior Day, though, was his first recruiting visit to the campus. McNair's brother and girlfriend accompanied him on the visit.

"I really enjoyed the campus," McNair said. "I liked the spring practice; it was intense and was fun. I liked it up there."

During his visit, McNair received a better look at the campus than he had as a child.

"It was a lot better than I thought it would be," McNair said. "I thought it would have okay facilities, but when I walked in all the trophies and the memorial was very nice."

Throughout Junior Day, McNair spoke with current UNC players and Charlie Williams, his primary recruiter.

"[Williams] was talking about if I liked it up there and what did I think of their campus," McNair said.

McNair also attended junior days at Duke and NC State.

McNair plans to return to UNC for its spring game on April 10. He also plans to attend an East Carolina spring practice sometime next week.
