Hope to walk-on at UNC

ROCKINGHAM -- Richmond County senior offensive lineman Patrick Hope will walk on at UNC in 2003, Raiders head coach Ed Emory told Inside Carolina on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound Hope anchored the line on one of the state's top 4-A programs and competed in Shrine Bowl.

Richmond County averaged 243 yards rushing rushing yards per game in 2002.

The Raiders are coming off a 12-1 season and a conference championship, and boast several legitimate Division I prospects for 2004.

The Tar Heels are highly interested in two now. But Emory, a college and high school coaching veteran, believes the UNC coaches will become interested in all of them as the recruiting season progresses.
