Ellerbe Switches to UNC

Brandon Ellerbe switched his verbal commitment from Clemson to North Carolina on Saturday while visiting Chapel Hill.

"To be honest, I don't even know," Ellerbe said of the switch. "I just wanted to be closer. I feel like that's where my heart is at now. They're showing me a lot of love."

Ellerbe, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound athlete from Wadesboro (N.C.) Anson County, originally committed to Clemson last September.

"UNC keeps up with me all the time," Ellerbe said. "They'd call me out of the blue and talk to me and stuff. They make sure I'm doing alright."

Ellerbe says he's been thinking about switching for a while, but that this weekend's visit to UNC push him to actually make the switch.

UNC is holding its first summer camp this weekend, but Ellerbe isn't working out. Instead, he has watched the camp from the sideline and also spent time with several UNC players, including Charles Brown, Brian Gupton, Greg Little, and Deunta Williams.

"They just talked to me about recruiting, but they weren't trying to persuade me to go [to UNC]," Ellerbe said. "They told me why they choose [UNC]. They were saying things that I see with my own two eyes. There's a lot of love here – they love one another and respect one another."

Despite his commitment to UNC, Ellerbe says he plans on continuing to look into other schools and make visits.

UNC is recruiting Ellerbe as a safety.
