31Reggie Wilkins 5-9165 Fr/Fr 98

Despite having just one wideout prospect verbally committed, UNC is nearly finished at wide receiver for this class.

UNC has nine wide receivers on scholarship and will graduate only one of those players following each of the next two seasons. Thus, the objective was – and still remains – to only sign elite receivers with the 2011 class.

The only prospect UNC is currently seriously pursuing as a wide receiver is Kris Frost. Frost is a big athlete who UNC envisions stepping into Greg Little's shoes one day.

T.J. Thorpe, who verbally committed to UNC in early March, might not get the national publicity, but he has exceptional hands and is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. A plus with Thorpe is he's going to be an early enrollee.

Ray Ray Davis, who signed with UNC two classes ago but had to attend a junior college when he failed to qualify, is on track to graduate from Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College in December. UNC will evaluate his situation – from a football and academic standpoint – as it gets closer.

Targets With Offers
Kris Frost

6'2" 216 lbs. 4.51 Matthews (N.C.) Butler High School
UNC, like most schools, began recruiting Frost as an outside linebacker, the position he earned All-Area, All-County, and All-Conference honors at last season. Now, UNC has joined Auburn, Michigan, Wake Forest, and West Virginia as schools recruiting him as a wide receiver. The move, coupled with a recent campus visit, has pushed UNC into Frost's top five schools list.

Tight End

2010 Scholarship Roster

51Trevor Stuart 6-3250 Gr/SrNR
49Ryan Taylor 6-3240 Gr/Sr46
89Nelson Hurst 6-4245 Jr/So56
96 Ethan Farmer 6-3 255 Fr/Fr 61 (DT)
Hybrid Back
# Name Ht Wt Cl/El Rk
17Zack Pianalto 6-4255 Sr/Sr21
33Christian Wilson 6-3 235Jr/Jr7
84Sean Fitzpatrick 6-5235 Fr/Fr39

UNC will lose four tight ends to graduation following the season and only signed one true tight end prospect with the 2010 class – Sean Fitzpatrick. A second incoming freshman, Ethan Farmer, was originally recruited as a defensive tackle, but UNC began recruiting him as a tight end after Alex Smith's de-commitment.

To help build up depth, UNC needs to secure a verbal commitment from at least one more tight end prospect. The Tar Heels already received a pledge from Eric Ebron, who is a terrific athlete, but raw, and should fit in nicely at H-back.

In addition to the offered targets, UNC is interested in Andrew Bennett (Eric (Pa.) McDowell), Kyler Brown (Charlotte (N.C.) Christian), Darien Bryant (Pickerington (Ohio) North), and Jordan Pineda (Boone (N.C.) Watauga).

Targets With Offers
Tanner McEvoy

6'6" 200 lbs. 4.70 Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic High School

McEvoy hopes to have a top five set before the football season begins. He visited UNC in February and is expected to visit again this coming weekend. He has also visited Boston College, Duke, Maryland, NC State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, and South Carolina. All of the aforementioned schools have offered. Most schools are recruiting him as either a wide receiver or quarterback.
Nick O'Leary

6'4" 230 lbs. 4.65 Jupiter (Fla.) Dwyer High School
Over 20 schools have offered O'Leary a scholarship. However, he's currently favoring four: Alabama, Florida State, Miami, and UNC. He plans to take all five of his official visits beofre he makes a verbal commitment. He visited UNC in early June with his teammates Jacoby Brissett and Curt Maggitt.
Drew Owens

6'5" 226 lbs. 5.00 Charlotte (N.C.) Ardrey Kell High School
Owens, who is looking to make a verbal commitment before October, is currently favoring Arkansas, Clemson, UNC, NC State, and South Carolina. To make the decision a little easier, he plans to narrow his focus to three schools by the end of the summer. He has visited all five favorite schools, except Arkansas.
Jack Tabb

6'4" 230 lbs. 4.75 Red Bank (N.J.) Catholic High School
Tabb, who has received roughly 20 scholarship offers, is in the middle of a slew of summer trips. After concluding his travels, he'll narrow his list of schools under consideration. If ready, he'll make a verbal commitment before the season begins. Otherwise, he'll take his official visits before deciding.
