|2010 Scholarship Roster|
The UNC coaches closed up camp in mid-June believing they could land four
of their top eight offensive line prospects and be finished at the position – so
far, so good.
Kiaro Holts committed to UNC on June 25 and Jamar Lewter followed suit a week and a half later. The star duo joins Jarrod James, who has been on UNC's commitment list since late March.
UNC's revised objective is to secure verbal commitments from two of the following six offensive linemen: Kaleb Johnson, Keith Lumpkin, Josue Matias, Brandon Shell, Landon Turner, and Jay Whitmire.
Targets With Offers
6'4" 285 lbs. 5.20 Jacksonville (Fla.) White High School
Just before the football season, Johnson, who has received over a dozen scholarship offers, plans to narrow his focus to five schools. His former teammate, Casey Turner, verbally committed to UNC but switched to Rutgers on Signing Day.
6'7" 265 lbs. 5.00 Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter's Preparatory School
Recently, Lumpkin revealed his top ten schools: Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan State, UNC, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, South Carolina, South Florida, and Wisconsin. All ten have offered, except Florida. He plans to take all five of his official visits before making a decision, likely close to Signing Day. He visited UNC in mid-May, off the recommendation of his teammate and fellow UNC target, Savon Huggins.
6'5" 290 lbs. 5.3 Union (N.J.) High School
Matias has quietly assembled an impressive scholarship offer list, which includes Connecticut, Florida, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan State, UNC, Rutgers, and Wisconsin. His recruiting travels have been limited to Maryland and Rutgers. He doesn't plan on making a verbal commitment until January.
6'5" 311 lbs. 5.30 Harrisonburg (Va.) High School
Turner is set to announce his collegiate decision at a press conference on Sunday. UNC, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia are his finalists. He has made several visits to UNC with his most recent occurring in mid-June. His father, West, played football at West Virginia.
6'6" 290 lbs. 4.90 Alexandria (Va.) Williams High School
Whitmire camped at UNC a year ago where he earned a scholarship offer. He returned to the campus for the East Carolina football game and then a spring practice. Although he's visited several schools besides UNC, Whitmire, who has collected roughly 20 offers, neglects to name favorites.
