Standing in front of family, friends and members of the community at Harrisonburg High School, Turner declared "My name is Landon Turner and I'm a Tar Heel."
Turner, a 6-foot-5, 311-pound offensive lineman from Harrisonburg (Va.), selected UNC over finalists Virginia Tech and West Virginia. All three finalists had offered, as well as over 30 other schools.
Turner has unofficially visited Georgia, Maryland, Michigan State, UNC, Ohio State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia. His most recent trip to Chapel Hill was to participate in North Carolina's team camp last month.
The announcement caps an extraordinary run of commitments for UNC – three in three days and six in the past 10 days.
Turner is ranked the No. 6 offensive guard in the nation by Scout.com. He is UNC's fourth commitment from an offensive lineman, joining Kiaro Holts (No. 4 OT), Jamar Lewter (No. 23 OT) and Jarrod James (No. 26 OG).
