Two linebackers will graduate following the 2010 season. The coaching staff is looking to sign four linebackers in the 2011 recruiting class, with a premium placed on prospects that are capable of playing both inside and outside.

UNC has already secured verbal commitments from Daquan Romero, who is the only true MIKE they are recruiting, and Christian Russell.

Stephone Anthony, Curtis Grant, Travis Hughes, and Norkeithus Otis are UNC's top remaining linebacker targets. UNC has an excellent chance of landing at least one, and possibly two, of the four aforementioned prospects.

UNC is also very interested in Edsel Caprice, Frank Clark, and Conner Crowell.

Target Breakdown
Stephone Anthony

6'2" 221 lbs. 4.49 Wadesboro (N.C.) Anson County High School
Anthony, who is the top in-state prospect, lists Florida, Clemson, UNC, Virginia Tech, Georgia, and NC State (in-order) as his favorite schools. He'll announce his collegiate decision at the Under Armour All-American Game in early January. He has visited each of his favorite schools, at least once, and plans to take all five of his official visits.
Edsel Caprice

6'2" 200 lbs. 4.50 Cape Coral (Fla.) High School
Caprice recently narrowed his focus to UNC and South Florida. He revealed that UNC was his leader, but gave USF the opportunity to unseat it with a visit Tuesday. He plans to make a verbal commitment between now and Monday.
Frank Clark

6'3" 205 lbs. 4.65 Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville High School
In June, Clark was part of Raw Talent's camp tour, which hit several camps across the country, resulting in scholarship offers from California (as a WR) and UNC (as a LB). Prior to the tour, he had only been offered by Eastern Michigan. California is his leader, but he will take official visits before deciding. Outside of California, he plans to officially visit Michigan, UNC, and UCLA.
Conner Crowell

6'1" 219 lbs. 4.70 Waldorf (Md.) North Point High School
Over a dozen schools have offered Crowell a scholarship -- mostly as a linebacker, but he has received some interest as a running back. He plans on holding off on naming favorite schools until visiting as many of his scholarship offering schools as possible. He attended UNC's spring game, but hopes to revisit the school before the end of the summer.
Curtis Grant

6'3" 215 lbs. 4.50 Richmond (Va.) Hermitage High School
In August, Grant will trim his list of schools under consideration to 10-15. In the meantime, he's visiting several schools, including Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Virginia. He attended UNC's Junior Day, but hopes to return to campus this summer.
Travis Hughes

6'1" 215 lbs. 4.55 Virginia Beach (Va.) Kempsville High School
After visiting UNC in June, Hughes labeled the Tar Heels his "strong leader." Those feelings were lessened to "slight leader," after a recent visit to Virginia Tech. He's waiting until the football season to make a verbal commitment. In the meantime, he plans to make several visits, including Clemson, UNC, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.
Norkeithus Otis

6'3" 195 lbs. 4.75 Gastonia (N.C.) Ashbrook High School
In September, Otis, who has received approximately 20 scholarship offers, plans to narrow his focus to at least five schools. From there, he'll take his official visits and then make a verbal commitment. He has visited Duke, Florida, Georgia Tech, UNC, NC State, and South Carolina
