Thomas a Vegas Standout

One of the early standouts in Las Vegas has been Memphis Magic wing prospect Adonis Thomas.

A high-level athlete, Thomas, a standout at Memphis (Tenn.) Melrose, has drawn looks from a number of the top college programs. North Carolina is one of the schools tracking Thomas, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound wing. Following his first game at the Fab 48, Thomas said Carolina is planning to evaluate him a few times during the evaluation period.

"It's been off and on," he said about UNC's interest. "They are basically telling me that they are going to tell me where they stand with my recruitment at the end of the summer. They are going to let me know if they are going to offer me or not."

According to Thomas, North Carolina dispatched an assistant coach to see him prior to the high school season and they've kept up with him over the past few months.

"It's a great school with great history and great tradition," Thomas said. "It's always great to be recruited by them and to have them among your choices."

To go with the interest from UNC, Thomas claims strong interest from Memphis, Tennessee, Ohio State, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Florida, UCLA, Kentucky and Duke.

"I'm just wide open right now," Thomas said. "I'm giving all the schools a good chance to evaluate me and then we'll see what I'm going to do."

The next step in the recruiting process for Thomas is to begin taking college visits. His plan is to take some in August and he has one set up with the hometown school.

"I'm going to try to [take visits]," he said. "My high school is doing some events, but if it doesn't conflict I'm going to get out to my schools and make my decision early."

"I know for sure I have a visit to Memphis," Thomas added. "I'm going to go to their midnight madness. That's in September."

Thomas is ranked No. 10 overall in the 2011 class by
