Former Signee Won't Play This Season

According to Hutchinson (Kan.) CC Sports Information Director Steve Carpenter, former UNC signee Ray Ray Davis did not make the Blue Dragons' 55-man roster for the 2010 season.

"Of the 55, only 12 can be out-of-state," Carpenter said. "I have not heard if they are enacting his red-shirt year or not."

It's assumed that Davis, a 6-foot, 202-pound wide receiver, will red-shirt this season, so not to lose a year of eligibility.

Davis is still enrolled at Hutchinson, according to Carpenter.

Davis was a part of UNC's 2009 recruiting class. When he failed to qualify out of Monroe (N.C.) Sun Valley High School, he enrolled at Hutchinson that summer.

Last season, Davis led Hutchinson in receiving with 24 catches for 260 yards and two touchdowns.

During the off-season, Hutchinson changed offensive coordinators and thus its offensive scheme.

In April, Davis told Inside Carolina that he was on track to graduate from Hutchinson this December. He had hoped to transfer to UNC, but if that didn't work out several other schools inquired about him, including Central Michigan.
