Midland (Texas) defensive lineman Traver Vliem took an unofficial visit to Fargo earlier this week and came away very impressed. BisonReport caught up with Vliem to hear more about his summer visit to NDSU.

"The visit went great, honestly it couldn't have gone much better," Vliem said. "The campus was great and they hooked me up with some professors there once I got to the FargoDome. So I got to tour cmapus and able to speak with the professors while doing so, it was great. I think North Dakota State is a great University. They have all the major that I'm considering with engineering, finance and business, so I like it."

Talking with the Bison coaches was one of the highlights for Vliem on his visit.

"Talking with Coach Goeser was great," Vliem explained to the BisonReport. "We really just talked about their plan for me as a student-athlete. They think I can be a big-impact player for the program early on. They want me to move inside to play defensive tackle and I would prefer to redshirt to develop, learn the system, gain weight and everything. I think I could make an impact as a redshirt freshman. I'm not quite sure about the location yet though. I know it's just a flight away from Dallas and I have family near Fargo, but distance is probably the biggest factor for my potential decision to come to NDSU as well as playing at the FCS level."

NDSU is in a good place for Vliem following his visit.

"I would say they're probably top five or six schools for me right now," Vliem said. "They have a winning tradition and it's a special place. I'm probably going to visit Sam Houston State, UTEP and SFA soon. Possibly Nevada before the end of the summer, but I'm not sure on that one yet. May have to take an official visit or two for the out of state schools. I really don't know when I'm going to make a decision yet, maybe before the season but anything can happen. I think NDSU will be in it until the end for me as they've been there since the beginning in terms of recruiting me and after seeing campus, it's a great program. I'm just looking for the right fit and it's a great situation there no doubt."
