North Dakota State is still searching for their quarterback this class and one who could be close to an offer is Mitchell (S.D.) quarterback Kanin Nelson after a good camp performance in Fargo. The BisonReport spoke with Nelson to learn more about his recruiting.

"I've have to camps at North Dakota, South Dakota State, North Dakota State, South Dakota, Northwestern and division two schools," Nelson said. "I just got my first division one offer from South Dakota State and I'm hearing from South Dakota and North Dakota State."

Nelson believes he could be closing in on another offer soon.

"I think both USD and maybe NDSU could be close to offering," Nelson explained to the BisonReport. "South Dakota was very interested and I have talked to them about scholarships and they're giving me a call most likely to offer on Thursday. NDSU has asked me a lot of questions about the SDSU offer and we've been in touch ever since. I've been talking with coach Roehl and he asked me what SDSU offered and has talk with coach Hedberg, the QB coach, about me since they saw me at camp. If I had to guess, they won't offer, but I'm not sure though as it's been tough to tell with them. I'm sure USD will though."

While NDSU would be a big offer, Nelson is already content with what he has.

"An NDSU offer would make for a big decision for me," Nelson told the BisonReport. "Their program is very successful and they have a winning tradition with a great coaching staff. That being said, I grew up an SDSU fan. It was pretty surreal knowing all the hard work that I've put in is starting to pay off and getting an offer from the school that I've always had my eye on meant a lot. My family was very excited as we've been talking about getting this offer for a very long time. It means a lot not only to me, but also my family."

A decision could be coming soon for the South Dakota native.

"I hope to make a decision before the season starts as I'd like to completely focus on my senior season. Also, I can then go to most of the home games of the school I decide to attend and I'm almost positive it'll be to one of the Dakota schools. I'm really working on studying tape this summer as I want to be able to better understand defenses and how to read them."
