Silver Lake (Kansas) athlete Cole Baird had a strong junior season and is looking at going out with a bang his senior season after earning an elite camper award as NDSU in June. The BisonReport caught up with Baird to learn more about his recruiting.

"I have no offers so far, but I've camped at South Dakota, North Dakota State, Kansas State twice, Northwest Missouri State, Butler and UCA," Baird said. "I'm also talking to several division two schools that don't offer till later such as Washburn, Fort Hays State and NW Missouri State. I'm talking the most to South Dakota and I have a lot of interest there. Also talking with Kansas State, Central Arkansas, Kansas, SE Missouri State and Illinois State. It's really hard to get your first offer it seems like, so it would be nice to get it out of the way."

Baird was a real standout at the Bison camp in June.

"I was invited to camp and ended up leaving with an elite camper award," Baird explained. "I worked mainly with Klanderman and Coach Riley is the recruiter for Kansas so I spoke with both of them. They were good coaches as I mean there's a reason they're always good. I'd definitely be interested if they were. They're a great program and it seemed like all the coaches were very knowledgeable."

The Silver Lake standout has some things to work on this summer.

"I'm working on taking the drills that I've been taught at the various camps and just putting them all to use," Baird told the BisonReport. "I'm really just kind of trying to put all this recruiting behind me and perform the way I know I can. Sometime whether it's at the mid-season or end of the season, a school will offer. My main focus though is getting a state championship with my team first then worry about recruiting second. An NDSU offer would mean quite a bit. I'd strongly consider them and they'd be at the top of my list for sure."
