Wisconsin OLB Ross Kennelly visited North Dakota State on Wednesday, a day after receiving a Bison offer. The BisonReport spoke with Kennelly to learn more about his visit.
"It was great," Kennelly said about his NDSU visit. "I got a feel for the whole University and really got to know the coaching staff better and it was top notch all around."
The Superior linebacker enjoyed the academic side of campus.
"The campus was great as I like the size and feel of everything there," Kennelly explained. "The facilities are awesome and the people are very friendly. It was really welcoming. I had a chance to meet the academic advisors and it went well. We were able to have all of our questions answered and it's exciting to know they really care about your academics there. There are so many opportunities offered through internships and other things like that, which attests to how great of an area Fargo is."
Talking with the Bison coaches was another highlight for Kennelly.
"I got a really good vibe from him," Kennelly said about Bison head coach Chris Klieman. "He seems like a very genuine guy who cares about his players and their future. He made my family and I feel very welcomed and it would be great to play for a coach of his caliber. I was also introduced to all of the defensive coaches and then primarily spoke with Coach Entz and Goeser. Coach Entz basically said they really would like me to be a Bison. We went through some chalk talk and looked at where they want me to play and all that it takes to play those specific positions. We went over some basic schemes as well. We talked a lot about the changes I would see and what life would be like as a Bison. I enjoyed that meeting as well as the one with Coach Goeser. We talked about just staying in touch and my timeline for everything. We just reiterated a lot of things we had a chance to do that day."
A decision could be soon for NDSU's top OLB target.
"My interest is still very high," Kennelly said about the Bison. "They're towards the top of my list and I'm still just taking everything in. My family and I had a wonderful time and are very thankful for how hospitable everyone at the University was. My family and I are going to take this weekend to think everything over and we'll see what happens next week."
