"NDSU's head coach, Chris Klieman, is the Bison coach that offered me," Sacramento (Calif.) outside linebacker Ryan Gatoloai-Faupula said to the BisonReport. "He told me that he and the staff loved my film and that he wanted guys with character, and not only good football players. They offered me as an outside linebacker as he loved the way that I pursue the ball including the versatility that I bring on the defensive side of the ball. I'm real honored with this new offer."
Gatoloai-Faupula is aware of the success that North Dakota State has had on the football field.
"I know that NDSU just won their fifth straight national title and they had the number two overall pick in the most recent NFL Draft," Gatoloai-Faupula explained to Scout.com. "Coach Cain from NDSU had been talking with me and he's just been telling me know that that they have a great program and he's also a Sacramento native. I'm very excited to see the campus and to see what the program is all about. I'm planning on taking a visit sometime in the summer as I want to be a part of a program like North Dakota State that is going to push me to my full potential. I also wouldn't mind seeing a game there as I want to see how the fans are."
The Bison are going to have to beat out a Big Ten program to land the California defender.
"I've been hearing from Nebraska and Nevada a lot lately," Gatoloai-Faupula said. "Nebraska has offered and they've been telling me that they're top notch and that they're fans there are like no other. I'm also probably going to take a visit there this summer, but I don't have a date set for that yet. Nevada has said that they love the intensity that I play with and that they'd love to have me. North Dakota State is probably in my top two I'd say because they must be doing something right if they have the number two pick in the draft, so that really stands out to me. I'll make a decision after the season as my senior year is the year I blow up."
