"With North Dakota State, their defensive coordinator came out to one of my track practices and watched me run and move last week," St. Michael - Albertville athlete Mitchell Kartes said to Scout.com. "Then on Thursday, NDSU head coach Chris Klieman and coach Entz, the defensive coordinator, came and wanted to see me do some agility drills so my coach ran me through so drills for 10 minutes and then they had me call them and coach Klieman offered me, so we talked quite a bit before I got the offer. Klieman said I can play a lot of positions for them as I can maybe play nickel, outside linebacker, free safety, strong safety, maybe in the box, or even running back or slot received they aren't really sure yet. He just said they want me to come up to camp one day and they will keep evaluating me and then we will discuss what the offer is actually for and percentages."
"This North Dakota State offer means a lot though," Kartes explained. "I know they don't have many offers out to many kids so it is a big deal to get a offer from them this early. I didn't think I was going to get one until camp, but it's a blessing to get it this early. I've been to NDSU three times already, and it's great there as they have a big campus and amazing facilities. My family likes it a lot there and it's close enough to come watch games and visit me."
Kartes has also seen other division one schools of late.
"I've been to South Dakota State, North Dakota and Minnesota a couple times," Kartes said to the BisonReport. "SDSU has amazing facilities and they have been saying come to camp. They also were at my track meet on Friday. North Dakota's been talking a lot to my head coach, and Minnesota's has been saying that they want to work with me at camp and see how I react to certain things. South Dakota offered me at safety, and Minnesota sees me as a safety or OLB too. I'm planning on camping at North Dakota State and Minnesota, and then I'll go from there!"
