"I've been staying in touch with mainly NDSU, Wisconsin, Iowa and NIU but I've also been staying in touch with Minnesota, USD, Illinois State and Minnesota Moorhead," Eau Claire (Wis.) Memorial quarterback Keagan Calchera said to the BisonReport. "NDSU has been the most involved as I've visited there three times and like it. I talk to Coach Hedberg and Goeser weekly and they say I'm the "next guy" and they will come to me as soon as one of the two quarterbacks that they've offered looks elsewhere. I've been talking to the Badgers quarterback coach, coach Budmayr, about coming to camp and getting ready for that. NIU's QB coach is coming to watch me throw this week and I've been staying in touch with him and Coach Crutchley. Coach Polasek from Iowa watched me throw a couple weeks back and invited me to camp as well. He was the first guy who's ever recruited me and we talked weekly when he was at NDSU. Besides that the other schools I try to stay in touch with and have visited some and may try to go to one of their camps. Most of them have also came to school to watch me workout."
"When I visited NDSU this spring, I enjoyed the campus and the facilities are really impressive," Calchera explained. "There's a lot of new and really nice addition, plus, I can see myself on campus and working in the facilities. Coach Hedberg has told me that he really likes my arm strength and size, plus my ability to move inside and outside the pocket with my athleticism. My relationship with the Bison coaches is really good. Like I said, I talk to Coach Goeser and Coach Hedberg every week. I've been there three times and have gotten to see how they coach and how Coach Hedberg runs quarterback meetings. I feel comfortable around them and feel like I can ask them questions whenever I need to. I also like how Coach Messingham runs the offense during practice. I really like all the other coaches and the energy they bring with them. An NDSU offer would mean everything to me as that's what I work for every day. Besides the relationships with the coaches and school that I've made, I have tremendous respect for the Bison program. They're tradition and success is hard to come by and I'd love to be a part of it."
North Dakota State would be the only camp for Calchera this summer.
"I'll be camping at Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota State and I have a team camp at Minnesota-Duluth. I also have the Chicago Showcase as well, so we'll see how things go."
