Doeren to be Introduced as New NIU Coach

Per sources, Wisconsin Defensive Coordinator Dave Doeren will be introduced as the next head football coach of the Northern Illinois Huskies at a press conference later today.

Northern Illinois Athletic Director Jeff Compher has called for a 2 p.m. press conference to announce Dave Doeren as NIU's hire.

Doeren had recently been a candidate for the Indiana University and Vanderbilt head coaching jobs.

Doeren was promoted to defensive coordinator in January, 2008 after spending his first two seasons at Wisconsin as the Badgers' co-defensive coordinator, linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator.

Doeren replace Jerry Kill who recently left NIU to be the head coach at the University of Minnesota.
