2010 Guard McCall Waiting on July

2010 guard Mike McCall from Chicago's Foreman High School plays in what is arguably the best backcourt in the state of Illinois this season. Learn more about McCall and the schools that are giving him interest in this story.

Mike McCall plays alongside point guard Lavonte Dority for the Foreman Hornets. Both guards are among the best in the Chicago Public League.

"I have the best backcourt in the state," said Foreman head coach Terry Head.

While McCall plays off the ball with Foreman, he plays the point guard position when he is on the AAU circuit with Head's Illinois Heat AAU team. McCall shows the versatility to play either backcourt position. The 6-2, 175 lb.guard can play point at the collegiate level.

"I think Mike has tremendous upside for the next level, because he has the ball in his hands a lot for us this summer for our AAU team," Head said. "He can play both the one and the two."

Earlier this spring, Scout.com's Scott Phillips scouted McCall in Chicago. "McCall has completely changed his game since his jumper became reliable last summer," said Phillips. "While the old McCall would attack the basket relentlessly, this version mixes and matches the offensive game to give opponents fits. The handles and court vision need to improve but McCall has improved a lot over the last two years."

Mike played with the Foreman team at the Northern Illinois summer team camp at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago recently where the NIU coaches watched him intently. Mike has a scholarship offer from the Huskies.

McCall recently visited the Texas A&M Elite Camp. He is also receiving interest from California, Dayton, DePaul, Nevada, Southern Illinois, Virginia, Western Michigan, and Xavier.

McCall plans on waiting until the July live evaluation period is over before making any college decisions. He will be in action with the Illinois Heat team at the Next Level Invitational in Milwaukee, Wisconsin next week.
