Northern Illinois Hoops Recruiting Notes

With the Fall signing period coming up soon, NIU brought two Class of 2010 prospects to campus last weekend and the Huskies have two more in the class coming this weekend. Learn more about Coach Ricardo Patton's plans for the Class of 2010 and beyond in this report.

In attendance at Northern Illinois' football loss to Idaho on Saturday, were Sheridan (Wyoming) junior college sophomore J.R. Cadot and Nate Rucker from Melrose High School in Memphis, Tennessee.

Cadot is a 6-5, 191 lb. guard who originally hails from Nassau in the Bahamas. He plays on the same team as former NIU commit David Wink.

Rucker, a 6-6 combo forward, has offers from East Tennessee State, NIU, Tennessee State, and Tennessee-Martin.

Coming up this weekend, the Huskies will be battling Western Michigan on the gridiron for their Homecoming game. Seton Academy's Chris Olivier and Kyle Cain, formerly of Thornton Fractional North, will be in DeKalb for official visits.

Olivier is a raw 6-8 forward with potential. He hails from the same high school as current Huskie freshman Tony Nixon.

Cain, a 6-7 forward, originally committed to the University of Detroit last season, but then reclassified for the class of 2010 when he decided to prep at New Hampton prep school in New Hampshire this season. The NIU staff scouted Cain on the AAU circuit with the Illinois Warriors this summer.

The Huskies have also invited a number of juniors from the Chicago area to campus this weekend. Among the invitees are a trio of players from Chicago Brooks High School – point guard George Marshall, Jr., and twins Keith Gray and Kevin Gray. Macari Brooks, an athletic 6-2 guard from Rich South, has also been invited to DeKalb.
