Northwestern Football to play Syracuse

The series with the Orangemen will start in 2008 with 4 games [home, away, away, and home].

Steve says its another small step on Northwestern's continuing move towards becoming a serious member of football's elite.

Looks like the Wildcats are going to play Syracuse in a few years...

Well, we've always said we need to beef up the non conference sked and this looks like a great opportunity to do just that. The Orange are a name program, but it's not going to be like sacrificing yourself to the Miamis or FSUs right away -- build up slowly. It makes sense to give us a prominent game out east and a nice matchup of schools, size and everything.

The way college football is set up, it still doesn't make sense to load your Non Conference slate with big games (Michigan has learned that lesson), but one or two big games to prepare yourself and get fans excited is a must. Since Notre Dame refuses to come to Evanston, going after schools like Syracuse makes sense.

Woohoo! Looking forward to a nonconference game five years ahead for a change!:)
