Lambert Respects Pat Fitzgerald, Northwestern

It's been a busy few days for three-star linebacker Quanzell Lambert. The 6'2, 230-lb junior from Timber Creek Regional High School (Erial, NJ) is currently sitting on nine scholarship offers, including three offers in the past couple days.

On Monday, Northwestern and North Carolina State,. each offered a scholarship, and on Tuesday, Purdue offered. Lambert is also sitting on offers from Iowa, Maryland, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Purdue, and South Carolina.

With 14 months to make a decision, Lambert says he's not in any rush to commit.

"I really want to go through the schools before I make any decision," said Quanzell Lambert.

When Northwestern offered, he took interest. Lambert has great respect for NU head coach Pat Fitzgerald, and Lambert is interested in the prospect of playing for former All-American linebacker Pat Fitzgerald.

"I know he's a great coach and he coaches his kids up well. If he played the game, then he knows how to coach the game well, especially if he was an All-American. He's played the game, so he knows how to coach."

Lambert's interest in Northwestern goes beyond playing for Pat Fitzgerald. Lambert admits to being excited about the potential of playing at a school with strong academics.

"Football-wise and academically, it's awesome, so I know if I went there, it would lead me to a good education."

This past season, Lambert has registered 110 tackles, seven sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two pass break-ups, one interception and two blocked kicks. He currently carries a 3.3 GPA.
