Montini's Westerkamp Exploring Options

Coming off a state championship, things can't get much better for Montini High School (Lombard, IL) wide receiver Jordan Westerkamp. Since his championship season came to an end, Westerkamp has received scholarship offers from Northwestern and Illinois, and has visits set up to many different schools.

The 6'2, 185-lb. receiver has received offers from, Northwestern and Illinois, and has gotten interest from Wisconsin, Iowa, Boston College, Notre Dame, Alabama, Oregon, and Nebraska.

The junior Westerkamp took an unofficial visit to Northwestern on December 11th, and was offered a scholarship by Wildcat head coach Pat Fitzgerald at the end of practice. Westerkamp admitted to be excited by how Coach Fitzgerald runs his practice

"Their practices are up-tempo," said Westerkamp. "They get a lot done in the time that they have. I love Coach Fitzgerald's attitude in practice. He's always upbeat, and he's a real players coach. I had fun watching the practice, and I was dying to jump into some of their drills."

Most of my visits are coming up in the next couple weeks. I'm looking forward to them, and seeing what those schools have to offer. I'd like a school with a passing-type offense, as a receiver, but I'm looking forward to meeting all the coaches, and seeing what they have to offer.

Still a junior, Westerkamp has a lot of time to evaluate his options. Westerkamp said he would like to be in a passing offense, which will evaluate everything from his upcoming visits.

"Most of my visits are coming up in the next couple weeks," Westerkamp said. "I'm looking forward to them, and seeing what those schools have to offer. I'd like a school with a passing-type offense, as a receiver, but I'm looking forward to meeting all the coaches, and seeing what they have to offer."

Westerkamp finished his junior season with incredible numbers. He had 89 catches for 1,611 yards, and 21 touchdowns. In the state championship game, he had seven catches, 126 yards, and three touchdowns, en-route to a 34-21 Montini win.

With the offseason in full swing, Westerkamp is looking forward to another championship run with Montini, and doesn't want his recruitment to interfere with his pursuit of a championship. Westerkamp said he will make his decision prior to the start of the season, so it's not a distraction.

"I'm definitely going to make my decision before my next football season, so I can help my team win another championship." Westerkamp said. "(I'll make the decision) definitely before the end of the summer."
