Stanford Commit Pippens Being "Open-Minded"

A verbal commit to Stanford, three-star safety Ra'Chard Pippens (Ola High School, McDonough, GA) is set to do an official visit to Stanford on Thursday, but says he is going to be open-minded of other schools.

Pippens (6-1, 181-lb) said he is still currently a verbal commit to Stanford, but would like to see what changes the Stanford football program is going to make, and then he will further evaluate his decision.

"I am headed to Stanford tomorrow for my official visit," Pippens said on Wednesday. "We are supposed to hear what all the changes are and how the football program will move forward. I will make up my mind about my commitment once I return home."

Pippens has been officially admitted to Stanford, but with former head coach Jim Harbaugh leaving the program to become head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, Pippens wants to hear what the football program still has to offer with the head coach that recruited him.

During the phone interview, Pippens emphasized that he is still a verbal commit with Stanford, but that he is not ruling out other options.

"If anything happens, I'm still going to be open-minded to other schools," Pippens said.
