Four-Star DT Sets Decision Timetable

The offseason is in full gear for four-star defensive tackle Tommy Schutt. The Glen Ellyn (IL) prospect currently has 11 offers, but has set a timetable for making a decision.

"I'm hoping to make my decision before my season starts," said Tommy Schutt.

Schutt (6-3, 301-lb) has a long list of schools to choose from. His list includes Northwestern along with Boston College, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Penn State.

The closest option for Schutt is Northwestern, which is located less than an hour away from his hometown of Glen Ellyn. Schutt has been high on Northwestern's radar for a while, so his next visit to Northwestern won't be the first. Schutt has attended several Wildcat practices, and was at their spring game in 2010.

With a wide variety of choices, Schutt says he plans to visit the Midwest schools first, including another visit trip to Northwestern.

But at this point, Schutt is very familiar with Northwestern.

"I've been around the school a couple times," Schutt said of Northwestern. "I really like Coach Fitzgerald, he's a great coach. I really like the feel of their program. They're definitely heading in the right direction for sure."

Now that Schutt focused on his offseason training, he said there are no immediate plans to make any visits. However, Schutt plans on doing visits starting in spring practice and into the summer.
