Ohio WR Picking Up Interest

The recruitment is starting to pick up for Upper Arlington (OH) WR Frank Epitropoulos. The 6'3, 195-lb receiver has hosted four visitors in the past week.

"It's picked up in the past couple weeks," said Frank Epitropoulos. "Coach Brett Bielema of Wisconsin came in and talked to me. Michigan State, Indiana, and Duke also came in last week. "

In addition to his four visitors, Epitropoulos has received interest from Northwestern, Boston College, Ohio State, Purdue, Cincinnati, Kentucky, and Duke.

The Northwestern Wildcats have shown Epitropoulos a lot of interest. That interest began when Kevin Johns was the receivers coach at Northwestern, and has continued after Johns' departure to Indiana. Once Johns accepted a spot with new Indiana coach Kevin Wilson's staff, Johns began to recruit Epitropoulos, one of his top targets while coaching at Northwestern.

"He said he wanted to start the recruiting process from Indiana now," Epitropoulos said of Coach Johns and the Hoosiers.

But once Johns left Northwestern, the Wildcats continued their recruitment of Epitropoulos. The wide receiver has done two official visits to Northwestern, and likes what he's seen of the Wildcats.

"I really like it, I think they're doing a great job down there, and they're only increasing," Epitropoulos said. "It's a great academic school, and that's also important to me."

Epitropoulos was in attendance for Northwestern's game against Purdue and Iowa, and was able to build a relationship with Northwestern assistant coach Matt MacPherson. Later this spring, Epitropoulos is expecting to host Coach MacPherson for a visit, and he expects to be invited to Northwestern for another visit.

Though he is busy with high school track, Epitropoulos has two visits set up, and is planning on doing other visits as time and interest progresses.

"I have two for sure visits set up; I'm going to Michigan State and Ohio State."

Epitropoulos is growing familiar with Michigan State as they continue to recruit him, but it would be an understatement to say that the wide receiver knows Ohio State pretty well. Frank is the son of former Buckeye linebacker, Ernie Epitropoulos. With the Buckeye connections and living just ten minutes from Ohio State, Frank is naturally a Buckeye fan, and is now beginning to gain some interest from OSU.

"(Ohio State assistant) Coach Fickell came in, he talked to my coach," Epitropoulos said. "He said they're going to invite me to the junior days."

So would an Ohio State offer make the Buckeyes Epitropoulos' favorite?

"Yeah, I think an offer would do that."

Epitropoulos finished his junior season with 29 catches for 490 yards and five touchdowns.
