Northwestern In The Mix For Bain

Robert Bain's recruitment has been very Midwest-heavy so far, as the Bolingbrook, Illinois product is looking at "most of the Big Ten" and holds offers from "a couple MAC schools. And Northwestern, he says, is right in the mix.

While he has yet to take an official visit to Evanston, the junior offensive lineman has been on campus at NU before and liked what he saw.

"I went to two of the games this fall," he said. "It was good. I like the atmosphere. I was at the Iowa game so that was exciting."

Bain also spoke highly of the football program and the university.

"It's an upcoming program on the rise," he said. "Coach Fitzgerald is a great coach. He's doing the right things. They have great academics, which is a plus."

While Bain still needs to learn more about the Northwestern program, he says the coaches would also like to learn more about him.

"I've talked to them a little bit," he said. "I haven't talked to them much recently. They just want to see a little big more film and get to know me better."

Before making his college choice, Bain wants to get to know each program as well, and plans to visit many of the schools on his list.

"I'm heading to Indiana tomorrow, Illinois the next weekend, and Wisconsin spring practice is coming up soon," he said. "And I'm looking forward to visiting Northwestern sometime. I just haven't gotten it planned out."

As of now, Bain has no favorites and doesn't plan to make his college decision in the near future.

"I'm probably going to take my time," he said. "I probably won't make it until next year. I'm just going to try to take all my visits and stuff."
