Academics Are A Draw For Albert

Brighton (MI) High School TE/LB Bill Albert) is not sure what position he will be playing in college, but he is sure that wherever he lines up, it will be for a school with exceptional academics.

"I have schools looking at me for just tight end, I have schools looking at me for just linebacker, and I have schools looking at me for both tight end and linebacker," said Bill Albert.

Albert (6'3, 205 says that he would rather play outside linebacker if he had to make a choice, although he has been playing tight end longer.

Thus far, he holds offers from Akron, Central Michigan, Miami (OH), and Western Michigan. In addition, he's picked up interest from Northwestern, Michigan, Michigan State, Northern Illinois, and others.

Albert is "really interested" in Northwestern, primarily due to their reputation for great academics.

"(Northwestern) being one of the most prestigious schools in the Midwest is a big draw," said Albert. "The number one factor is the efficiency and productivity of coaches, as well as how beautiful the campus is, and the football facilities. Northwestern is at the top [of my list] for how beautiful the campus is, is in the top two or three for facilities, and top two for coaches."

When it comes to coaches, NU assistant coach Matt McPherson has certainly impressed him.

"He straight-up tells you the truth," Albert said. "He's an all-around good guy."

McPherson visited Brighton High School last week, and discussed having Albert taking part in Northwestern's senior camp. After the camp, Albert will narrow his list down to the top two or three, and will most likely commit in July or August.
