"(Springer) wants me to come to camp, and we'll go from there," said John Turner.
Turner has been hearing from Northwestern for some time—mainly from Dennis Springer—and may be getting close to an offer. For now, he's relying on a strong showing at Northwestern's camp, and then an offer could be possible.
Going into that camp, Turner is setting goals to make an impression on the NU coaches.
"(I want to) just show them that I'm a good DB and worthy of a Northwestern scholarship," Turner said.
In the fall, Turner visited Northwestern for the first time to see the Wildcats' game with Michigan State, and had a very positive experience.
"I really like the education, but I also like the people there," Turner said. "They made my visit enjoyable."
Though he does not have an offer from the Wildcats, NU is a school that really stands out on his list.
"They're up there," he said. "I'd say they're up in the top-five."
As a junior, Turner was a part of Cathedral's 13-3 overall record, which ended in a 31-20 win in the Indiana State Championship.
