'Cats Looking At Another Panther

With experience playing both sides of the ball, Dakota Conwell (Pittsburgh, PA) will be a contributor wherever he plays. His interest at Northwestern remains relatively high.

For Conwell (6-2, 205), the school's high academic standards play an important role in his recruitment. The quarterback/two-way standout said academics and football have equal weight in his recruiting decision.

"I want to go to a strong academic school but also strong football," Conwell said. "Northwestern definitely fits the bill on that. It's a really good school, if you graduate there, you're set for the rest of your life."

Two of Conwell's teammates are similarly interested in NU. Northwestern commit Ian Park, an offensive lineman, and recruit Jack Schwaba, a tight end, both play with Conwell at Upper Saint Claire High School.

"They like Northwestern a lot," Conwell said. "Ian is trying to get Jack to commit, he's always talking about Northwestern."

According to Conwell, however, attending with teammates wouldn't make or break his decision.

"It wouldn't be bad to know some people where I end up, but I'll see what comes along."

Conwell currently holds offers from Pittsburgh, Temple, and Toledo. When it comes down to making the decision, however, Conwell said comfort at the school is the most important factor.

"How comfortable I feel with the coaches is really important," he said. "And hopefully I'll have a good opportunity to play at that school."

Though he only carries three offers, Conwell said he would prefer to get his decision made on the early side of recruitment.

"I would prefer to get it done before the season," he said.
