Gibbs Hopes To Impress NU

After strong showings at Wisconsin and Indiana camps, Seaholm (MI) High School offensive lineman Dan Gibbs is hoping to carry it all over to Northwestern's camp, and reconnect with the NU coaching staff.

The offseason has been rough for Dan Gibbs. He spent much of the spring recovering from elbow surgery, which slowed his offseason workout regiment. Gibbs holds offers from Ball State and Eastern Michigan, but is hoping to impress a Big Ten school at a camp, and earn an offer.

Gibbs (6-7, 305) is getting interest from Northwestern, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, Wisconsin, and a number of other schools. Gibbs is excited about all the Big Ten interest, but an offer is what he wants.

"A Big Ten offer would be huge for me," Gibbs said. "It's what I really want to do. That would be absolutely amazing."

Early in his recruitment, Gibbs was hearing quite a bit from Northwestern. That communication has slowed down, but he's hoping to prove himself at NU camp.

Gibbs was in attendance for the Wildcats' win over Iowa, and enjoyed his overall experience in Evanston.

"I like it a lot," Gibbs said. "I'm looking to go to college to get a really good education first and obviously Northwestern is a really good school. I like the coaches, the campus, and the facilities. I like it."

Gibbs felt he performed well at Wisconsin and Indiana camps, but is hoping to perform even better at Northwestern because a scholarship offer from the Wildcats would be a big one.

"I like Northwestern a lot," Gibbs said. "It would be very high (on my list) if they offered."

Originally, Gibbs was set to attend Northwestern's one-day camp on June 23rd. Due to travel plans; he changed that date to the July 27th camp. In addition to NU's camp, Gibbs will attend camp at Michigan, Penn, and Virginia.
