Lemont LB Will Camp In Evanston

It's still early in the recruiting process for linebacker Brad Uher (Lemont HS), but Northwestern is high on his list of potential schools.

Uher (6-2, 215) is attending the Chicagoland Showcase this week at Northwestern, and hopes to use the opportunity to impress the NU coaches.

"I want to get some exposure out of the Big Ten and the MAC schools," Uher said. "I want them to see that I'm a big guy but I can still move and cover running backs."

Uher has yet to visit Northwestern, but recently visited Indiana. He has also spoken to coaches from Ball State, Bowling Green, and Northern Illinois.

Though he has yet to visit campus, Uher said he is relatively familiar with Northwestern as a school.

"I like Northwestern a lot," he said. "My neighbors go there. I think it's a great school and a good education."

Uher said he was a fan of Northwestern long before his recruitment started. He was in attendance when Northwestern last defeated Ohio State in 2004, and said that game sparked his interest in the program.

Uher has yet to meet with any Northwestern coaches, but hopes to do that at the showcase. According to the linebacker, however, the fact that head coach Pat Fitzgerald played the same position is a positive.

"It's definitely good because he knows a lot about my position," Uher said.

There is no time frame for a decision from Uher, who said he isn't concerned about committing before or after his senior season. When the time comes to commit, however, Uher ranks Northwestern near the top of his list.

"Depending on how I do at the showcase, I would love to go to Northwestern," he said.

As a junior, Uher finished with 43 total tackles and six sacks while helping the Lemont Indians to an 11-1 overall record.
