Going The Distance?

Lynn Griffin (Jacksonville, FL) lives a long way from Northwestern, but the reputation of NU has reached Griffin in Florida. At this point, the running back is highly interested in the Wildcats.

"It's a good school as far as academics, and that's one of the main things I'm looking for in college," Griffin said. "It's good football, the Big Ten is a good conference, so it's just an overall good program.

"I talked to coaches and they seem like they really have my best interest. I like being able to talk with them and connect with them, they're a pretty cool staff."

Griffin (5-11, 190) holds offers from Connecticut, Miami, Southern Miss, and Troy.

Thus far, he has not visited Northwestern, but said that he hopes to arrange a visit sometime during the remainder of the summer.

"That's one of the schools I really want to take a trip to," Griffin said. "It's a maybe, my parents and I like it a lot because of the academics. Academics come before sports, so my parents really want to push to make that visit."

"Most of all, I like the style," he said. "They have a good family atmosphere; they really get after it with the training program and everything. It seems like they have a program that's really passionate."

Griffin said he wants to make his commitment sometime during his senior season, and definitely does not want to wait until after the season ends.

"I want to make my decision sometime during the season, I'm not waiting until after," he said. "I just want to wait, weigh my options, talk to my parents about what would be the best fit for me, and go from there."

So where does NU fit into his potential schools?

"As of right now, really don't' have a top-five. If I had a top-five, Northwestern would definitely be in it, I really like them a lot," Griffin said.
