Persa Named To Big Ten Watch List

In conjunction with the start of Big Ten Media Days, the conference has released their first Preseason Watch List with a representative from each Big Ten team. This list was selected by a panel of media from the Big Ten.

Likely to no surprise, Northwestern's representative was senior quarterback Dan Persa. In ten games as a junior, Persa threw for 2,581 yards and 15 touchdowns while completing 73.5 percent of his passes. He earned First-Team All-Big Ten honors in the process.

This season, Persa is a candidate for the Heisman Trophy, the Walter Camp Award, the Manning Award, and the Davey O'Brien Award just to name a few.

Persa told on Tuesday that he is now at 100 percent and ready to go for the 2011 football season.

Also representing the Legends Division is Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson, Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins, Nebraska defensive tackle Jared Crick and linebacker Lavonte David, who tied in votes.

The Leaders Division watch list members are Illinois quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase, Indiana wide receiver Damarlo Belcher, Ohio State center Mike Brewster and defensive tackle John Simon, Penn State linebacker Michael Mauti, and Wisconsin running backs Montee Ball and James White.

Stay with and for total coverage of Big Ten Media Days.
