NU Recruiting Notebook

For some recruits, it's almost decision day. For others, it's time to slim down the list of options. As the recruiting world heats up, we look at some of Northwestern's top recruits and where they currently stand.

Ifeadi Odenigbo (4-Star OLB): One of Northwestern's biggest priorities, Odenigbo's recruitment may be winding down shortly. He remains high on the Wildcats as well as Notre Dame, Stanford, Ohio State, and California. Odenigbo has said he hopes to make an end-of-summer decision, but also said he didn't want to force it. He last visited NU in July. Pat Fitzgerald is hoping that Odenigbo's visit sticks in his mind.

Davonte' Neal (4-Star WR/CB): Neal still holds the same stance—everyone has a shot. He holds a number of offers including from Arizona, Auburn, Miami, Notre Dame, Penn State, and USC, among others. Neal can play either side of the ball with great skill. He would be a huge land for the Wildcats.

Quanzell Lambert (4-Star MLB): Northwestern is looking for Lambert to play outside linebacker. Lambert recently reported he is "open to everyone right now." Lambert has had good things to say about Northwestern throughout his recruitment. He keeps in close contact with the NU coaches. Lambert is shooting for a commitment at the end of his senior season. NU will likely be in the mix when decision time rolls along.

Faith Ekakitie (4-Star DT): Ekakitie has set up four official visits and is waiting to set up a fifth. Even so, Northwestern is high on his list. Last week, the four-star said Northwestern will be in his top-five when that is revealed. Ekakitie also has more than 25 offers on the table including offers from Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, Stanford, Tennessee, and more. With what Faith has said about NU, it's safe to say he is very interested and the Wildcats may even be the front-runner.

Seth Jacobs (4-Star Safety): Jacobs is taking the patient route in his recruitment and is planning a Signing Day decision. Jacobs has said Northwestern is "in the mix" and that he likes the value of a NU degree. Jacobs also has offers from Arkansas, California, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and more. For now, Northwestern fans will have to wait.

Greg Kuhar (3-Star DT): Northwestern has been Kuhar's favorite throughout his recruitment. With family connections (brother Bennett is a Wildcat wrestler), Northwestern is in a good spot. Kuhar said he hoped to pick a school before the season began but said that isn't very likely.

Traveon Henry (3-Star RB): Henry visited Northwestern in the spring and had a good visit. He has been working to cut his list. Just a few weeks ago, Henry said NU was "definitely in (his) top-10" and is hoping to have a top-five out in September. He did say Northwestern has "a good shot" at making the top-five."

Nana Kyeremeh (3-Star CB): Kyeremeh is still far from a decision. He is hoping to set up official visits for the fall. Kyeremeh said he plans to visit Northwestern on an official visit. He also holds offers from Akron, Boston College, Toledo, and Vanderbilt.

Anthony Wales (3-Star RB): Much like Kyeremeh, Wales is taking his time with a decision. He is planning out official visits and also is looking to stop by Northwestern in the fall. He is very high on Northwestern, Illinois, and Indiana as well as in-state Kentucky and hometown school Louisville.

Jehu Chesson (3-Star WR): Chesson has a long list of interested schools and is going to use the fall as an evaluation period. Northwestern has shown the standout receiver plenty of interest. He is planning a commitment at the end of his senior football season.
