Horne High On Northwestern

Running back Marcus Horne has offers from nearly every MAC school, but he is still waiting for an offer from his favorite school—Northwestern. However, he thinks he is close to an offer.

"My coach thinks so, too," Horne said. "Northwestern likes me a lot. Coach Mac told me he's real close, but there's just a little more he wants to see; just some minor stuff I need to work on."

Horne, a two-star recruit from Bradley Tech and Trade (WI) HS, is also interested in Iowa, Michigan State, and Mississippi State. He doesn't hold offers from any of those schools, either, but does have offers from Northern Iowa and Illinois State. His favorite school from a non-BCS conference is Ball State.

Northwestern's coaches are coming to Horne's first high school game this year and Horne makes sure to check in with the coaches a lot.

"I try to call [Pat Fitzgerald] at least once every two weeks, or something like that," he said. "I talk to Coach Hank every week and Coach Mac likes me a lot."

Because he lives so close to Evanston, Horne plans to be back on campus a few times before his recruitment is finished.

"I'm going to take an official there for sure," he said. "It's only like an hour-and-a-half drive, so I'm going to be going down there for a couple games."

Horne said that he wouldn't consider walking on for the Wildcats and that he would choose a different school if he didn't receive an offer.

"They're taking two running backs," he said. "If they didn't take me, they would take another running back."

Horne plans to make his decision after the football season.
