Persa, Trumpy Uncertain

Northwestern released the official injury report for Saturday's game against Eastern Illinois. Dan Persa's status remains the same, while there were a few new additions to the list.

For the second straight week, Northwestern quarterback Dan Persa—who did not play last week—is listed as questionable on the weekly injury report.

If Persa is unable to play, Kain Colter will step in as the starter, just as he did against Boston College. Colter posted 287 all-purpose yards in the Wildcats' 24-17 win.

The biggest surprise on the injury report is the addition of junior running back Mike Trumpy, who is listed as doubtful with a head injury. Trumpy appeared to be shaken up late in the fourth quarter of last Saturday's game. Pat Fitzgerald did not elaborate on Trumpy's status this week, but said on Monday that he "got his bell rung."

On the most recent depth chart, Trumpy was listed behind senior running back Jacob Schmidt. Adonis Smith and true freshman Treyvon Green will likely see more carries with Trumpy's injury. Last week, Trumpy led all NU running backs in yardage and carries.

The only other regular starter listed on the injury report is senior defensive tackle Jack DiNardo, who injured his leg last week, according to Fitzgerald in his Monday press conference. DiNardo is listed as ‘out' for this week's game. His status for later games remains uncertain.

Other names on the injury report include Brian Arnfelt (foot), Jared Carpenter (wrist), Collin Ellis (hand), Roderick Goodlow (leg), and Tony Jones (leg). All of those players are listed as ‘out' for this week.
