NU, Army Knotted At Halftime

The Wildcats and Black Knights enter the locker room tied at seven, after a defensive battle in the first half.

Northwestern's offense sputtered through most of the first half, but finally cashed in late to tie the game at seven.

Looking for an answer, Kain Colter, who is making his third career start at quarterback, led the Wildcats on an 11-play, 51-yard touchdown drive, which was capped off by a 14-yard strike to senior receiver Jeremy Ebert.

Army found the endzone first as quarterback Trent Steelman brought the Black Knights on an 18-play drive, which ate up eight minutes and 48 seconds on the clock. Steelman would finish the drive on his own, as he dashed for a 17-yard touchdown.

The Wildcats were hoping to cash in at the end of the half, as the offense traveled 62 yards down the field with one minute remaining, but Jeff Budzien missed a 26-yard field goal. Northwestern was forced to settle for a halftime tie.

Colter finished the half completing nine of 16 passes for 80 yards, while adding 62 yards on the ground.
