Wildcats Offer Texas Linebacker

The Woodlands linebacker Garrett Hope gets to play against some of the best high school competition and there is no doubt that he wants to play against the most elite competition in college. Check out this report for an update on his recruitment.

Garrett Hope, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker from The Woodlands in Texas is happy about his team's play so far in 2011. The Highlanders are out of the gate with a 5-0 start and the defense has played well.

"Our offense has definitely stepped it up. Our first game our defense did not play well, but ever since then we have held teams," Hope explained.

"I feel like I have been playing better than last year, not as many mental errors and missed tackles as last year. I have three sacks already and I had four total last year the entire year, so I think I am doing better on my pass rushes and stuff like that."

Hope now has a BCS offer from Northwestern (the latest to offer) and also holds D1 rides to schools like Nevada, UTEP and New Mexico State.

He is happy with the way things are progressing on the recruiting trail, but has his mind set on earning even bigger offers down the road.

"My top-five right now would definitely be OU, Arkansas, Florida State, Kansas State and Bama," Hope informed. "I definitely want to play in a conference like the Big 12 or the SEC. I feel like I belong there and my coaches feel like I belong there." I feel like I can play on that level."

Hope would like to get out to for unofficial visits to see Tennessee, Arkansas, Kansas State, Kansas and Oklahoma and will knock out one of those trips this weekend on his bye week, but has yet to decide which campus he will hit.

He will be in attendance for the Red River Rivalry game in Dallas next weekend.
