Okafor Set For NU Visit

Northwestern already has an Olentangy Brave locked up for the class of 2012, and they are looking at another one for the 2013 recruiting class. Junior cornerback Buchi Okafor is going to join teammate and Northwestern commit Kenton Playko for a weekend road trip to Evanston.

Somewhere along the six-and-a-half hour drive, Buchi Okafor will catch on to the excitement. The junior cornerback will travel to Evanston with OHS teammate and Northwestern verbal Kenton Playko, who is excited for the Wildcats' big game with Michigan.

Playko, who committed to Northwestern back in March, has been telling his teammate all about what Northwestern is like.

"He told me the program is up-and-coming and he loves the coaching staff," Okafor said. "He told me I would love them too. I can't wait to meet them."

Okafor anticipates that Playko will be decked out in his Wildcat purple on Saturday, but he is hoping to see first-hand what Northwestern is all about.

"I know northwestern is a good academic school, so that will be one of my top choices," Okafor said. "I just want to meet the coaching staff and get a tour of the campus."

Okafor knows about Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald, both from Playko's high praise and seeing him coach on television. On Saturday, he hopes to meet Fitzgerald for the first time.

"Kenton told me (Coach Fitzgerald) is enthusiastic and great to be around," he said. "I can't wait to meet up and see how he really is in person."

Most importantly for the junior cornerback, this unofficial visit gives him a chance to take in the environment at Northwestern and see what sold his teammate on the school.

"I'm hoping to see the whole school and the whole atmosphere," he said.

Okafor recently visited Cincinnati, and plans to make additional visits this year.
