Tripoldi OK after Auto Crash

**Friday Afternoon Update**

Highly regarded backup Offensive Lineman Joe Tripodi was involved in early morning single vehicle traffic accident early Monday morning. He was flown to a Michigan hospital, but now is reported by our sources home in good condition without any serious injuries..

Redshirt Freshman Offensive Lineman Joe Tripodi apparently is in good condition after being involved in an automobile accident near his home town of Chelsea, Michigan, early last Monday morning.
According to reports he is in good condition after being trapped under his car for 4 hours and spending time in the University of Michigan Hospital.

Details of the accident are in a story in the Chelsea Standard Newpaper .
Tripodi had missed the spring drills with a foot injury suffered during winter conditioning, but had been cleared to play in the Spring Scrimmage. He was held out of the scrimmage to avoid any further inury.

There had been some speculation that he had been one of the offensive linemen considered as a candidate to replace now graduated Center Austin King prior to his injury.

Coach Walker's remarks on the offensive line after the scrimmage included these comments; "Its unfortunate that Joe Tripodi missed the Spring, he'll be back, in fact he's cleared to go now - wish he could have gone in the Spring.

Joe Tripodi is a heck of a football player. He did really a nice job last Fall. I fully expect him to battle those guys."

The major concern would be the news report of a head injury to Tripodi, and the report that one of his legs was trapped under his vehicle for four hours. He had suffered a foot injury during the Winter. As regular Purple Reign readers know, Northwestern University will not comment on the condition of players or injury status. The team had come through the spring practices without any major injuries.
