Moreau (6-foot, 185) plays in an offense similar to that of Northwestern with Western Davie High School. Fitzgerald watched the standout athlete's film, and was impressed.
"They like the way I run," said Moreau. "I'm a one-cut back. I can also play slot, I got good hand, but they want me as a running back."
The interest is mutual between Moreau and the Wildcats. The running back likes a few specific characteristics of Northwestern.
"I know they have great education, a pretty good football team," Moreau said. "They make it to the bowl games a lot so that's a really good thing."
Moreau holds offers from Northwestern, Boston College, Vanderbilt, UCLA, Wake Forest, Western Kentucky, and others. Many schools, NU included, see Moreau as a running back at the college level. However, Boston College and other schools are looking for him to play safety.
With the Wildcats entering the mix, Moreau hopes to learn more in the final weeks before making a decision. He plans to visit UCLA this weekend and Vanderbilt at a later date. A visit in Evanston remains a possibility.
"They're up there," said Moreau. "I'm going to look more into them, hopefully take that visit, we'll see. I'm trying to decide how many visits I will take this month. They're up there."
Moreau is looking for a number of things in the right school. Education is his top priority, while a relationship with the coaching staff is very important. When decision time comes, one factor will make the difference.
"It just comes down to where I feel comfortable and fit in," said Moreau.
Moreau hopes to give his verbal commitment before National Signing Day, but admitted a signing-day commitment is possible.
