Davis Checks Out Northwestern

Three-star guard Kyle Davis, a standout at Hyde Park High School, has garnered interest from Northwestern and a number of other schools. Davis was in Evanston last week to take in the Wildcats' game with rival Illinois. Get the latest on Davis in this PurpleWildcats.com recruiting update.

Kyle Davis is only a junior, but the three-star shooting guard prospect has already garnered interest from a number of schools in the Midwest and beyond. He holds offers from Northwestern, Wichita State, Xavier, Colorado State and Marquette and also has interest in Kansas State and Illinois.

Right now, however, he has no favorite.

While Davis has yet to take any official visits since he's only a junior, he has been able to visit home-state schools Northwestern and Illinois.

The Hyde Park Career Academy (Chicago) HS product has been to Evanston "a few" times and seen Champaign once. He was impressed with what he saw at NU.

"I liked the school and liked the campus," he said. "It's nice that it's near downtown Chicago and I like the atmosphere."

Davis also liked Illinois, but can't compare the schools.

"To me, I really can't compare them," he said. "I don't have anything to compare Northwestern to Illinois school-wise. I liked how both coaches and both teams come out and play."

Davis was in Evanston for the NU-Illinois game on Jan. 4 and liked the atmosphere there. He was also able to talk to Wildcats coach Bill Carmody "for a brief second."

"It was a fun game to be at and see all the alumni and see all the students come out to support both teams," he said.

Davis now hopes to see some other schools on his list, but doesn't know when he will start those visits.
