Wildcats Eyeing Junior Tight End

Morris (Ill.) tight end Danny Friend has three offers and more should be on their way.

Morris Community High School has a talented tight end with athleticism and ball skills in 6'5, 235-lb Danny Friend, who is having his share of early recruiting success.

"I have three offers," he said. "One from Central Michigan, one from Western Michigan, and one from Northern Illinois. I've been getting letters from Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana and Northwestern. I got a letter from Oregon the other day. That's the first one they've sent, but it's cool to get one from them."

Friend has visited a couple of schools so far, Indiana and Northwestern.

"With Indiana, I'm not really sure," he said of his Hoosier interest. "I've been getting letters from them. I was told to keep in touch, but I'm not sure. I like their campus. The weight room is incredible and so are the facilities."

The Northwestern visit allowed Friend to meet the Wildcat coaching staff.

"I like Fitz a lot. He was very impressive, the way he talked in front of the group. He was talking about the organization and the direction they're going. I've lived around Chicago my whole life. I've been around Northwestern and I liked it a lot."

Although he is busy with basketball right now, Friend is hoping to see more schools soon.

"I'm planning one to Michigan State and Illinois in a couple weeks. It;s hard to find time to get away, but when basketball ends, I'm sure I'll visit more. I got invited to camp at Vanderbilt and a couple other schools and invited to one at Wisconsin, but I'm not sure [which I'll go to] yet."

Friend was 1st team All-Conference as a junior. He also made the 2011 Academic All State High Honor Role.
