Naperville Product Hearing From NU

Northwestern has shown interest in a local product, Naperville North (IL) High School guard Colin Goebel. He discusses his recruitment with PurpleWildcats.com.

With interest coming in from a "few ACC schools" and "most of the Big Ten," 2013 OG Colin Goebel is still waiting to narrow down his list of schools.

"I probably will in a month or two," he said. "I just need more offers. Once I reach my max offers (I'll narrow it down)."

Currently, Miami (FL), Indiana, Iowa, Illinois, Cincinnati and Ole Miss have all offered the Naperville North (IL) HS product and he has also received interest from Purdue, Michigan, Northwestern, Boston College and Tennessee. He said he thinks more offers may be coming soon.

"Boston College is talking to me a lot, and Tennessee," he said.

Goebel plans to take more visits, but this year he has seen Illinois, Purdue and Michigan. He liked what each school had to offer.

"They're all cool places," he said. "They were unique and had cool stuff."

Goebel doesn't know if he will visit Northwestern, but has talked to the NU coaches "a few times via email and phone" and liked what he has heard from the Wildcats' coaches.

"I like how they have really good academics," he said. "Coach Fitzgerald seems like a really cool guy to play under."

Goebel's hometown of Naperville, Ill., is close to Evanston, but he said that likely will not play a role in his decision.

"I'll go anywhere," he said.
