Honors to two more Wildcats

Cross Country's <b>Rachel Evjen</b> and Swimming's <b>Kellan O'Connor</b> were honored yesterday by the <b>Big 10</b> with the <b>Big 10 Medal of Honor</b>

Two more Wildcats were honored yesterday by the Big 10:
Swimmer Kellan O'Connor and Cross Country Runner Rachel Evjen have been awarded the Big 10 Medal of Honor
First awarded in 1914, the Big Ten endowed a Medal of Honor to be given annually to a student in the graduating class of each university that demonstrated proficiency in scholarship and athletics.Since the introduction of the Big Ten Medal of Honor, more than 1,070 student-athletes have been awarded the honor.

Rachel Evjen [NU Photo] graduates with the six best 6K times in Northwestern history and a total of 10 sub-22 6k races. She's been a top competitor in every race appearance for the Wildcats since the resurence of the program and has been one of the leaders in bringing Wildcat Cross Country prominence in NCAA competition. The daughter of Timothy Evjen and Cheryl Hauser, she is from Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Majored in Human Development/Psychological Services

Kellan O'Connor [NU Photo] has been one of the leaders of the Northwestern Men's Swimming and Diving Team as the teams top butterfly swimmer and important participant in the relay and individual medly competitions. He finished 7th in the 200 meter Butterfly at the NCAA Championships last year. His abilities resulted in First Team All American honors last year, and his contributions to the team will be missed in 2003-04. The son of Charles and Andrea O'Connor, he is from Phoenix Arizona, and majored in Industrial Engineering.
