King Adds NU Offer; Close To Decision

Minooka (IL) High School junior offensive lineman Blake King received his first Big Ten scholarship offer, coming from Northwestern, on Monday. He is getting close to a verbal commitment. King discusses the offer in this recruiting update.

Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald was ready to offer Blake King a scholarship, but was forced to review his ACT score first. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound guard received his results, a score of 24.

On Monday, Fitzgerald extended King's first Big Ten scholarship offer.

"It feels great, it feels really great," said King. "I wasn't surprised because I knew it was coming. It was just a matter of time before my ACT score came in."

King, a product of Minooka (IL) High School, also holds offers from Toledo and Western Michigan. His latest offers from the Wildcats stands out amongst the group.

"They're at the top of my list," King said. "I like the coaching staff, the great opportunities after football and after college."

King is ready to make a commitment soon, first giving some consideration to each option. He downplayed any connection between his timetable and the Northwestern offer.

"I'm trying to make a decison pretty soon," he said. "I'm close to a commitment."
