Billings will travel to Evanston this weekend, and plans to take a close look at the campus and athletic facilities.
Being able to gel with the coaching staff is an important element of Billings' recruitment. So far, coach Pat Fitzgerald and defensive line coach Marty Long have impressed him. As a whole, the entire staff has helped to attract his interest.
"I've talked to most of (the coaches) and I'm comfortable with them," Billings said.
Along with a solid coaching staff, Billings wants the complete package in his college decision: top-notch academics and a strong football program.
While NU, of late, has certainly held its own in both areas, Billings also hopes to feel comfortable during his campus visit and gain an understanding of the school's student-athlete experience.
Billings still plans to play on both sides of the ball in his senior year. He intends to improve his posture and "run reach" in order to improve his overall game.
With several offers in hand, Billings has yet to cut down his options, though he mentioned that Northwestern sits in a good position.
"I haven't visited yet, but I'm sure Northwestern is pretty high," he said.
