"When they offered me, they told me offense or defense they just want me on the team," Igwebuike said. "Having the option to play on both sides of the ball was a big factor for me."
The 6-foot, 180-pound commit said after all was said and done with all of his visits, Northwestern still stuck out as his clear favorite. He feels he will be a great fit at the school, and the academic standards don't intimidate him.
"That was the biggest factor of my decision," he said. "They are very high up in the rankings and after I talked with the coaches they pushed the fact that football is first, but you have a great degree for the rest of your life."
Staying in the Midwest, closer to home, didn't hurt, either.
"It feels great to get my decision out of the way to focus on my senior year," Igwebuike said. "I'm just excited to be able to play in the Big Ten and hopefully make a difference in Northwestern's program."
