Wildcats ranked in AP, coaches polls

Northwestern earned its way into the AP and coaches polls, thanks to its 5-0 start to the season.

Northwestern is earning national respect for its strong start to the season.

The updated USA Today/Coaches Poll tabs the Wildcats as the nation's 22nd-ranked team; and the AP poll lists Northwestern at No. 24, its first ranking in that poll since 2008.

The Wildcats' record stands at 5-0 following a 44-29 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday.

The challenges only grow tougher for Northwestern; it faces road tests at Penn State and Minnesota before a home contest against No. 21 Nebraska.
